If the Sun gives us our seasons and the Moon gives us our tides everyday, even as they are millions of miles distant, with obvious energy flowing between them and us, why shouldn’t the other heavenly bodies in our Solar System also energetically affect us? Astrology says they do…

PHILOSOPHY
Nancy M. Gulliksen, student of Astrology for the past 50 years and Professional Astrologer for the last 34 years, sees Astrology as a possible tool for personal enlightenment, spiritual solace and one way for a person to discover oneself through this ancient mathematical practice. It is a guideline only and should be viewed only as an entertaining lens for self awareness and possible timing and trends.
From a person’s birth date, birth time and birth place, a map can be made of the sky and the juxtaposition of the planets from the vantage point of where one entered life. From this map, the practice of Astrology feels, a person’s personality, life pattern and perhaps why their life is the way it is can be seen and studied. Also seen are the possible trends and timing which can be gleaned from how the present planetary positions relate to the static picture of the sky at one’s birth moment. In this way a forecast of sorts is made—not about absolutes, but about trends, possibilities and fairly accurate timing. One’s free will is, however, what runs one’s life. Astrology is based on the philosophy that perhaps we have been given an opportunity to hone our self spiritually toward some perfected state of being. The idea, however, is that perhaps we cannot accomplish this in just 80 or so years of life. Astrology says that perhaps we live many lifetimes in that pursuit and each life we may live could be likened to a grade in school and we pick the courses for our particular grade as if we are on a self-actualized course of study. This way eventually we may “get it right.”
Studying one’s natal or birth chart is an invaluable opportunity to know one self and why one’s life looks and works the way it may. It is a way of seeing one self as a separate and special individual who has come in to a life with a history and a skill set which makes one who they are. In the current life, one is working on integrating new knowledge and wisdom gained through experience to round out who they are and what they are capable of becoming. What that new direction may be is also potentially pointed to in the chart.
